The Sun Bowl is an open-air amphitheater and has free events in the spring and fall.
There are many events in the surrounding area. The Arizona Broadway Theatre is nearby.
Arizona Urban FISHING Program includes 21 local lakes and ponds in 11 cities stocked with trout, catfish and sunfish.
Viewpoint Lake at Lakeview Center allows residents and guests to fish from the shore or a boat. A fishing license is not required. Paddle BOATS and rowboats are available.
The Sportsmen Club has seasonal weekly fishing trips to metro and state lakes and streams. There is a Fathers Day brunch/fishing derby.
Sun City has 5 regulation and 3 executive
GOLF courses. Tournaments and other events take place throughout the year.
Residents and their guests can enjoy Miniature golf at 4 centers.
The game is also played by many residents competitively in the Mini-Golf Club.
GUESTS of RCSC Cardholders, who do not reside in Sun City seasonally (30 days or longer) or permanently,
may be allowed to use RCSC facilities or participate in activities for a fee.
There is a HORSE Club - the
Sun Cities Saddle Club - that is open to anyone who lives in one of the Del Webb Sun City retirement communities.
They have regularly scheduled rides. The most popular rides are those relatively close to home. Horse ownership is not required.
Horse Farms and Boarding Stables are located within a few miles of Sun City.
The Phoenix horse racetrack - Turf Paradise - is about a half hour from Sun City.
Banner Boswell Medical Center is named among the nationís top
and was listed among the top urban hospitals in the U.S. There are many other hospitals near Sun City. There are several nursing homes.
There are also independent living facilities and assisted living facilities. The first long-term facility was Sun Valley Lodge.
INSECTS are not a big problem in Sun City but sometimes there are ants, bees, cockroaches, and spiders. There are several species of butterflies and Butterfly Wonderland, Americaís Largest Butterfly Pavilion, is less than a hour from Sun City.

There are MOVIES at 2 of the Rec Centers - 2pm and 7pm. - Wednesdays at Marinette Center and Saturdays at Mountain View Center.

The Sun City Readers Theater Ensembleperform plays at retirement homes, schools and other RCSC clubs for a small fee. There are several public movie theaters nearby.

Phoenix Mountains Preserve is less than an hour from Sun City.
It is a municipal park and has mountain biking, equestrian trails, and hiking trails.
The White Tank Mountain Regional Park is the closest mountain to Sun City - about 30 minutes.
The park has special events including a sunrise hike and a nighttime hike. The Estrella Mountain Regional Park is less than an hour from Sun City
and has special events and programs including a Bike on the Trail at night.

watching homes when residents are gone. They also have funeral watches and perform welfare checks.
Sun City has many
SPORTS clubs. The Sun Bowl has a regulation softball field.
Metro Phoenix has 4 major professional sports teams.
Major League Baseballís Cactus League has spring training at Peoria and Surprise just short drives from Sun City.

The Sun City RV Club has caravans and one-day trips. You do not have to own an RV to be a member.

In addition to restoration projects, the Vintage Vehicles of Sun City Club has activities such as car shows, cruises, picnics, and fund raisers.
Sun City has a variety of
VEGETATION including many species of
landscape plants and trees.
The Sun City Prides are working with the Maricopa County Department of Transportation to remove ornamental orange trees from the medians in Sun City and replacing them with flowering, drought-resistant plants.
Xmas (Christmas) is celebrated in Sun City much as it is in the rest of the country.
Fairway Center has a holiday celebration and a lighted boat parade. The Phoenix has spectacular Zoolights at Christmas.
There are two (2) ZOOS close to Sun City.
Wildlife World Zoo Aquarium & Safari Park is less than a half hour away and has many events and a variety of rides.
The Phoenix Zoo is less than an hour away and has special events including Adult Programs.
